Topic (A) Promotion of Worldwide Gender Equality
The equality of the male and female sex has been constantly discussed throughout the world these days. Studies around the world found that at least one in three women has been beaten, coerced into sex, or otherwise abused in her lifetime. A quarter of women are likely to experience violence during pregnancy. Literacy levels in developing countries have increased, but women still account for two third of the 780 million illiterate people. At current annual rates of progress, gender parity in national legislatures won’t be achieved until 2068.
As we can see from the statistics above, not only in lease develop countries (LDC’s) that gender equality is an issue, but also in the OECD countries it is an problem yet to solve. How to promote and exercise the fundamental rights of humans is very crucial and urgent. The A.D.R. Model United Nations, General Assembly has set this topic in the agenda, anticipating every nation could come to some consensus towards this issue.
Topic (B) Creating a new partnership for Sub-Saharan Africa in order to meet the Millennium Development Goals
Over the past decades, the North-South Gap has always been a controversial and complex problem waiting to be solved in the world today. Today, most countries that once suffered from the two world wars have gradually improved their living standards and economic industries over the past few years. Nonetheless, African countries especially Sub-Saharan regions have not progressed; moreover the conditions for them are getting more difficult.
The Millennium Development Goals were declared by the United Nations in the year 2000. Its aim is classified into 8 main sectors. As time goes by, the MDG’s has being falling behind its schedule, how would the UN make up to this scheme will be interesting to discuss. The A.D.R. Model United Nations, General Assembly has set this topic in the agenda, anticipating every nation could come to some consensus towards this issue.
